The Teen Mom & Infant Support Specialist works in the Gerard House Program that provides safe, stable housing and wraparound support services to pregnant and parenting teens, helping young mothers and their babies get a healthy start in life. In this role, team members supervise and promote the well-being of each resident through trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and restorative practices. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and document the behavior, emotional state, and activities of young mothers and their infants; report any concerns regarding health, safety, or well-being to the appropriate authority. Maintain a safe and nurturing environment that supports both mother and child.
- Provide daily living support, including preparing meals, administering medications, transporting clients to appointments (including pediatric and OB/GYN visits), supporting school attendance or educational efforts, helping clients access and maintain clean clothing for themselves and their babies, performing housekeeping tasks as needed, and conducting 30-minute safety checks.
- Serve as a positive role model to help clients develop appropriate parenting and life skills. Use trauma-informed, survivor-centered communication strategies to encourage healing, confidence, and empowerment.
- Process intakes and discharges; complete necessary documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Provide new residents with a clear orientation to the home, expectations, and available supports.
- Plan and facilitate therapeutic and educational programming with a focus on parenting, child development, life skills, and emotional wellness. Collaborate with case managers and therapists to tailor support to each resident's needs.
Expectations:
- Meet deadlines and complete 95% of assigned projects/tasks on schedule.
- Display strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain composure in a high-stress environment while being sensitive to the emotional and developmental needs of parenting teens.
- Represent Gerard House with professionalism and compassion.
Skills & Competencies:

- Ability to assist and guide youth through challenges using empathy, structure, and restorative practices.
- Comfortable assisting teen moms with childcare basics (e.g., feeding, diapering, bathing, safe sleep routines).
- Basic computer literacy for documentation and communication.
