Youth Care Specialist Supervisor

at Pyxis, Inc. in Wichita, Kansas, United States

Job Description

Pyxis's strength starts with our people. Every member of our team meets or exceeds the education, experience, and licensure standards for their role — because the youth and families we serve deserve nothing less.

We invest the majority of our resources directly into our programs, because we know that experienced, well-trained staff are the foundation of great direct service. Our program managers and employees are empowered to focus on what matters most: delivering best-practice care, meeting the needs of those we serve, and achieving real, positive outcomes.

If you’re compassionate, reliable, and passionate about helping youth thrive, this is a place where you can make a real, lasting impact — one shift at a time.

Lead with purpose. Empower youth. Support your team.

As a Youth Care Specialist Shift Supervisor, you’re the steady, reassuring presence that keeps the program running smoothly through the quietest — and sometimes most critical — hours. You’ll oversee nightly operations, mentor staff, ensure safety and structure, and provide hands-on support to youth in the foster care system.

This is a leadership role with purpose, impact, and responsibility — perfect for calm problem-solvers who thrive in supportive, mission-driven environments.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Night Shift Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in supporting youth in the foster care system during overnight hours within a compassionate, community-based environment. This position provides direct oversight of night program operations, ensuring the safety, growth, and well-being of participants while guiding and mentoring staff on the night shift. As a hands-on leader, the Night Shift Supervisor models professionalism, delivers crisis support when needed, and fosters a calm, structured overnight environment where youth feel safe and empowered. Working collaboratively with program leadership, this role ensures compliance with company policies, promotes continuity of care, and supports a culture of respect, teamwork, and high-quality care.

Ensure compliance with all Pyxis standards, policies, and procedures during night hours. Maintain a safe and secure environment for youth and staff overnight. Maintain clear professional boundaries, transparency with their "upper leadership/leadership team," and the privacy of all staff/youth.

Ensure staff complete service and incident documentation within 24 hours or prior to the next shift. Promptly notify Program Manager and Administrator of critical incidents occurring overnight.
  • Night Logistics & Support: Monitor overnight facility needs, including safety checks, basic housekeeping, and vehicle readiness for emergencies. Ensure clients’ belongings, blue books, and essential items are secure and available for day-shift transition.
