Overview
Department: Speech Pathology Employment Type: Per Diem / PRN Shifts Available:8-Hour Shift Hours: Variable Location: St. Mary’s Medical Center- Blue Springs, MO We are seeking a compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our hospital-based team, providing acute care and inpatient rehabilitation services. The SLP will evaluate and treat speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing (dysphagia) disorders in adult and/or pediatric patients. This role involves close collaboration with an interdisciplinary medical team, supporting patients with stroke, neurological conditions, TBI, head and neck cancer, and complex medical needs, with a strong focus on dysphagia management, bedside swallow evaluations, and instrumental assessments (MBS/FEES). Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):+ Assess and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
+ Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
+ Provide therapy to improve articulation, fluency, voice disorders, and language comprehension.
+ Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other relevant professionals.
+ Maintain detailed records of patient evaluation, treatment, and progress.
+ Educate clients and family members about communication strategies.
+ Stay updated on clinical research and advances in speech-language pathology.
Qualifications
Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:+ Graduate of an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s in Speech Therapy
+ Licensed by the state in Speech-Language Pathology
+ Current BLS for healthcare providers certification upon hire and maintain current
Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:+ MS degree in Speech-Language Pathology
+ One year of experience with swallow assessment and treatment in an acute care hospital setting
+ One year of experience in acute care
