Job Description
The Safety Specialist is responsible for developing and facilitating environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs at our Junction City, Kansas, distribution center. In this role, you will create a strong safety culture by implementing best practices and applying your demonstrated knowledge of EHS and workers' compensation laws and regulations to translate them into actionable processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop, build, and execute a strategy in support of Supply Chain's strategic goals to reduce injuries, accidents, and incidents by fostering a culture of safety
- Leverage metrics to track progress, proactively identify areas of concern, and drive accountability through established formalized Job Safety Analyses and risk assessments
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Foot Locker policies by developing safety programs and providing guidance and oversight
- Maintain a thorough understanding of local, regional, and domestic regulations, monitoring the regulatory arena for new and changing regulations and rulemaking, including hazardous communication programs
- Maintain product labeling systems and Safety Data Sheet inventory
- Act accordingly in the event of an environmental incident or injury in the workplace with a basic understanding of OSHA guidelines, injury & illness rate, recordables, near misses, and first aid
- Identify proper PPE for the job and drive accountability with team members on PPE usage
- Understand the audit process, the importance of open reporting, and conformance
- Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures, bringing problems to the attention of leadership and/or HR as needed
