Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:  

The Clinical Therapy Supervisor provides clinical and administrative supervision to therapy staff while maintaining a limited patient caseload to support clinical operations and maintain direct practice competency. This position is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based behavioral health services, supporting staff development, monitoring documentation and productivity, promoting regulatory compliance, and fostering a collaborative, patient-centered culture. The Clinical Therapy Supervisor serves as a clinical resource for therapists and assists the Director of Clinical Therapy Services with department operations, quality improvement initiatives, and program development.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:  

Clinical Leadership and Supervision 


  • Provides day-to-day supervision, guidance, and support to licensed therapists and other assigned clinical staff.

  • Conducts regular supervision sessions, performance coaching, and clinical consultation.

  • Assists with onboarding, orientation, mentoring, and competency development of new therapy staff.

  • Supports scheduling and staffing to ensure appropriate patient coverage.

  • Assists with interviewing, hiring recommendations, and employee performance evaluations.

  • Addresses performance concerns in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Therapy Services.

  • Promotes a positive, collaborative, and accountable work environment.

Staff Development 


  • Provides ongoing education and coaching to therapy staff.

  • Assists with competency assessments and continuing education initiatives.

  • Promotes evidence-based clinical practice.

  • Encourages professional growth and leadership development among staff.

  • Serves as a clinical resource for complex patient care situations.

Patient Care 


  • Maintains a limited patient caseload as assigned.

  • Completes comprehensive behavioral health assessments.

  • Develops individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team.

  • Provides individual, group, and family therapy utilizing evidence-based therapeutic interventions.

  • Performs crisis intervention and risk assessments when indicated.

  • Documents patient care in accordance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Participates in treatment team meetings and discharge planning.

Quality and Regulatory Compliance 


  • Monitors clinical documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.

  • Ensures adherence to Joint Commission, CMS, state, and organizational standards.

  • Assists with chart audits and quality improvement activities.

  • Identifies opportunities to improve clinical outcomes and department performance.

  • Supports implementation of department policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to ensuring the agency is adequately staffed during and immediately following natural and/or manmade disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, and/or acts of terrorism. Assists other employees in the work unit in accomplishing assignments as necessary. 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:


  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.

  • Current Kansas licensure as an LMSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent behavioral health license.

Preferred Requirements:


  • Five (5) or more years of behavioral health clinical experience.

  • Current Kansas licensure as an LSCSW, LCPC, LCMFT, or equivalent behavioral health license.

  • Previous supervisory experience in an inpatient psychiatric hospital.

  • Experience with Joint Commission standards and regulatory surveys.

  • Experience leading quality improvement initiatives and clinical program development.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical behavioral health experience. 

  • Minimum of one (1) year of leadership, supervisory, or clinician experience. 

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:


  • The incumbent must be granted security clearance from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

  • Must take and pass a pre-employment drug screening test.
