Shift: Night Shift (typically 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM) Position SummaryThe Night Shift Charge Nurse provides professional nursing care to residents and oversees the clinical operations of the unit during the overnight hours. This role ensures the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents while supervising nursing assistants and medication aides. The Charge Nurse maintains compliance with state and federal long-term care regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor resident health status, check vital signs, and provide scheduled treatments.
- Administer medications accurately according to physician orders and facility protocols.
- Delegate duties and supervise Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) and Certified Medication Aides (CMAs).
- Respond to emergency clinical situations and initiate appropriate life-saving protocols.
- Document care, incidents, and changes in health using electronic medical records (EMR).
- Ensure alignment with Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) rules.
- Commmunicate changes in resident status to physicians, family members, and the oncoming shift.
- Manage admissions, discharges, or hospital transfers that occur overnight.
- Active, unencumbered RN or LPN license in the State of Kansas.
- Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Previous clinical experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing environment preferred.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to make independent clinical decisions under pressure.
