Job Title: Material Handler Job Description
The Material Handler is responsible for safely transporting, storing, and tracking materials throughout the warehouse section of a manufacturing facility. This role operates sit-down or stand-up forklifts, supports shipping activities, and maintains accurate inventory records using a computerized inventory system.
Responsibilities
+ Operate a sit-down or stand-up forklift to transfer materials safely and efficiently throughout the facility.
+ Transport and store materials in designated areas to support production and packaging operations.
+ Assist with shipments as needed, including staging, loading, and organizing materials for outbound deliveries.
+ Use a computerized inventory system to calculate and record inventory levels.
+ Perform regular cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy and reconcile discrepancies.
+ Support inventory control processes to ensure materials are correctly labeled, stored, and tracked.
+ Collaborate with team members in warehouse, production, and inventory functions to maintain smooth workflow.
+ Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working in the plant.
+ Complete other duties as assigned by the Team Lead to support overall warehouse and production operations.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 6 years of warehouse or production experience.
+ Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift in a fast-paced environment.
+ Hands-on inventory control experience, including working with computerized inventory systems.
+ Knowledge of material handling practices in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
+ Ability to perform cycle counting to maintain accurate inventory records.
+ Capability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
+ Commitment to following safety protocols and using appropriate personal protective equipment.
+ Ability to work the 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm shift, Monday through Friday.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience working in packaging, production, or manufacturing environments.
+ Familiarity with stand-up forklift operation.
+ Comfort working in environments where inks and solvents are used.
+ Strong attention to detail when handling materials and recording inventory.
+ Ability to work collaboratively with warehouse, production, and inventory teams.

Work Environment
This role is based in the warehouse section of a manufacturing facility where inks and solvents are used, resulting in strong odors in the plant. Personal protective equipment such as hairnets, ear plugs, and steel-toe footwear is required. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule on the 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm shift in a production-oriented environment focused on safety, efficiency, and teamwork.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lenexa, KS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.25 – $22.25/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
