POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will assists in the examination and treatment of patients by taking vital signs, assisting in diagnostic procedures and preparing treatment rooms and patients records. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in our community’s health and well-being.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Previous experience as a medical assistant preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSURE, AND REGISTRATIONS
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification approved by the American Heart Association upon hire or within the first 60 days of employment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
- Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
- Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
- Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.
- Assisting providers with patient examinations and minor procedures.
- Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.
- Performing minor diagnostic tests and administering treatment under the supervision of the Physician.
- Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
- Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
- Setting up and replenishing stock in examination and procedure rooms
- Relaying diagnostic test and assessment results to healthcare professionals.
- Screen phone calls for the provider and relay messages appropriately.
- Maintain timely patient flow and notify patients of delays.
