Job Title: Industrial Painter Job Description

The Industrial Painter is responsible for preparing, painting, and inspecting manufactured components and assemblies using industrial spray-painting equipment. This role ensures all finished products meet strict company and customer quality standards while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

+ Set up and operate cone, disk, and nozzle-type industrial spray-painting equipment in accordance with production and safety guidelines.

+ Prepare surfaces for painting by removing grease, dirt, rust, scale, and other contaminants using appropriate cleaning methods, solvents, or washing equipment.

+ Mix paint and coatings according to manufacturer specifications and customer color requirements to achieve consistent finishes.

+ Apply paint and protective coatings to subassemblies and fully assembled products while maintaining established quality and production standards.

+ Inspect painted components for defects such as runs, sags, incomplete coverage, and finish irregularities, ensuring compliance with company and customer specifications.

+ Perform required quality inspections and complete all associated documentation accurately and on time.

+ Maintain paint equipment to ensure proper operation, including performing routine preventative maintenance.

+ Maintain paint booths by changing filters and cleaning overspray from walls, floors, and exhaust systems.

+ Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe in accordance with company policies and OSHA safety requirements.

+ Follow all safety procedures, including the proper selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

+ Collaborate effectively with supervisors, leads, and coworkers to meet production schedules and quality objectives.

+ Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and operational needs.

Essential Skills

+ Ability to safely set up and operate industrial spray-painting equipment, including cone, disk, and nozzle-type systems.

+ Working knowledge of paint preparation, mixing procedures, and coating application techniques.

+ Basic knowledge of blueprint reading, including common symbols and terminology.

+ Ability to use standard hand tools in a manufacturing environment.

+ Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.

+ Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

+ Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and a positive work ethic.

+ Ability to identify problems in the painting process and assist in resolving them.

+ Basic computer skills with the ability to use web-based systems to enter, access, modify, and retrieve information.

+ Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.

+ Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

+ Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, eye protection, and protective clothing.

+ Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment with exposure to paint fumes, noise, and varying temperatures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ High school diploma or GED preferred.

+ One year of industrial painting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

+ Experience operating industrial spray-painting equipment preferred.

+ Experience in industrial paint prep, including cleaning and surface preparation, is beneficial.

+ Hands-on experience with industrial painting and spray gun operation is an advantage.

Work Environment

This role is based in an industrial manufacturing setting within a dedicated painting department. The environment is non-climate-controlled, with exposure to paint fumes, noise, and varying temperatures. The work involves getting hands-on with equipment and materials, and employees can expect to get somewhat dirty while performing daily tasks. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Appropriate personal protective equipment, including respirators, gloves, eye protection, and protective clothing, is required and must be worn as directed. Steel-toed shoes are required as part of the dress code to support a safe and compliant work environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Olathe, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 – $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
