Job Description
This on-call Food Service Worker role supports kitchen and dining operations by maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized environment. You help keep food preparation and service areas running smoothly through cleaning, sanitation, stocking, and general facility upkeep. Although the position is on-call, you may work up to 40 hours per week depending on business needs, and you should be prepared to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Responsibilities
+ Clean and sanitize kitchen, dining, and food preparation areas to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
+ Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout the facility to ensure a clean and orderly appearance.
+ Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment using proper cleaning and sanitation procedures.
+ Empty trash and recycling containers and transport waste to designated disposal areas.
+ Restock food service supplies, paper products, cleaning materials, and storage areas to support continuous operations.
+ Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organizing food and supply deliveries.
+ Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of breakrooms, restrooms, storage rooms, and common areas.
+ Ensure all cleaning and sanitation procedures comply with established health, safety, and food safety standards.
+ Report maintenance, safety, or sanitation concerns promptly to appropriate staff for follow-up.
+ Support kitchen staff with non-cooking duties as needed to facilitate efficient meal service.
+ Follow recipes and prepare meals in a timely and consistent manner when assigned cooking-related tasks.
+ Organize workstations, ingredients, and equipment to support efficient food preparation and service.
+ Perform other custodial, food preparation, and food service support tasks as assigned by leadership.
Essential Skills
+ Previous cooking or kitchen experience required.
+ Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, including proper cleaning, storage, and handling procedures.
+ Ability to follow recipes accurately and prepare meals in a timely manner.
+ Previous experience in janitorial, housekeeping, custodial, food service, or cleaning roles preferred.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
+ Strong attention to cleanliness, detail, and adherence to safety and sanitation standards.
+ Reliable transportation and consistent, punctual attendance.
+ Ability to lift and carry up to 40-50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods.
+ High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
+ Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
+ Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to established procedures.
+ Willingness and availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in foodservice, food preparation, housekeeping, line cook, or hospitality roles.
+ Comfort working in wet, hot, or cold environments for extended periods.
+ Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and reach frequently throughout the shift.
+ Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
+ Strong teamwork and communication skills when working with kitchen and facility staff.

Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maryville, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.00 – $19.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
