QPS is hiring a Lead Panel Production Associate to join a fast-paced manufacturing team in Kansas City, MO! This great opportunity offers a consistent Monday to Friday, 7:30am-5:30pm schedule. Daily duties include operating panel processing machinery, setting up and monitoring equipment, reading work orders and production drawings, performing quality checks, operating sit-down/stand-up forklifts, and helping coordinate daily production activities. Candidates should have previous machine operation, computer, and sit-down forklift experience, be comfortable working on their feet and lifting 5-50 pounds, and have a strong attention to detail. Lead Panel Production Operator Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead and assist with daily panel production activities and help ensure production goals are met
- Operate panel processing equipment, including edge banders, panel saws, routers, and other production machinery
- Set up, monitor, and safely operate production machinery according to work orders and specifications
- Use computers and production systems to enter, review, and track production information, work orders, and inventory
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, production drawings, measurements, and specifications
- Measure, cut, and assemble wood or composite panels to precise specifications
- Perform quality checks on finished panels to ensure they meet company standards
- Monitor machinery for proper operation and identify potential equipment issues
- Report machinery malfunctions, quality concerns, or production issues to the supervisor
- Assist with training and providing direction to other production associates as needed
- Help organize workflow and prioritize production tasks to meet daily and weekly production targets
- Safely operate a sit-down/stand-up forklift to move raw materials, panels, and finished products
- Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and organizing materials
- Assist with inventory management of raw materials and finished goods
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all safety protocols, operating procedures, and company policies
- Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to maintain an efficient production operation
Lead Panel Production Operator Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months of related training and experience
- Previous machine operator experience
- Previous computer experience, including the ability to navigate basic computer programs and production systems
- Sit-down forklift experience
- Stand-up forklift experience is preferred
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, woodworking, cabinetry, furniture, or similar production environment
- Experience operating panel processing equipment is strongly preferred
- Continuous lifting and/or moving products weighing approximately 5-50 pounds by hand
- Continuous bending, stretching, reaching, and walking
- Ability to work on concrete/cement floors for extended periods
- Ability to safely operate production machinery and forklifts
- Ability to remain attentive and focused in a fast-paced production environment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, measurements, and production specifications
- Familiarity with woodworking tools, machinery, and production processes
- Ability to identify equipment or production issues and communicate them to leadership
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently while also leading and supporting a production team
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Willingness to learn company-specific equipment, processes, and computer systems
- Warehouse is not climate controlled; dress appropriately for changing seasonal temperatures
- Additional personal protective equipment must be worn as required by company safety policies
