Job Title: Class B Fitter/Welder Job Description

The Class B Fitter/Welder operates on a first-shift schedule and performs high-quality welding and fitting work on structural and pipe components in accordance with ASME Code requirements. The role focuses on MIG and flux core welding, accurate fitting and fabrication, safe equipment operation, and active participation in a collaborative, team-oriented work environment.

Responsibilities

+ Perform MIG and flux core welding on plate, pipe, and structural components in accordance with ASME Code requirements.

+ Successfully complete 3G and 6G MIG and flux core weld tests on plate and pipe to demonstrate welding proficiency.

+ Fit and assemble structural steel, stainless steel, and other metal components based on blueprints and fabrication drawings.

+ Interpret and follow blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate layout, fitting, and welding of materials.

+ Operate welding and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently to produce high-quality welds and assemblies.

+ Inspect welds and fittings for quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards and project requirements.

+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following established safety procedures and guidelines.

+ Collaborate with team members to coordinate workflow, meet production goals, and resolve fabrication or fitting issues.

+ Handle materials, tools, and equipment in a manner that prevents damage and supports efficient fabrication processes.

+ Follow all company policies and procedures related to safety, quality, and production in a team-oriented environment.

Essential Skills

+ Proven ability to pass 3G MIG and flux core plate weld tests and 6G MIG and flux core pipe weld tests.

+ Hands-on experience with MIG welding and flux core welding on plate, pipe, and structural steel.

+ Strong fitting skills for structural steel, stainless steel, and other fabricated components.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings accurately.

+ Knowledge of ASME Code requirements as they apply to welding and fabrication work.

+ Competence in operating welding and fabrication equipment safely and effectively.

+ Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following safety protocols.

+ Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, production-focused setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with structural steel fabrication and assembly.

+ Background in stainless steel fabrication and welding.

+ Familiarity with pipe welding and fitting in industrial or fabrication shop settings.

+ Attention to detail and strong quality focus in all welding and fitting tasks.

+ Reliable work habits suitable for early-morning first-shift operations.

Work Environment

This position operates in a fabrication shop environment on a first shift schedule, typically Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The role involves regular use of welding and fabrication equipment, handling structural steel, stainless steel, and pipe materials, and working from blueprints and drawings. Team members work in a safety-focused, production-oriented setting where proper protective attire and adherence to safety procedures are essential.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Collinsville, OK.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 – $25.00/hr.
