Thrive Therapy of Kansas is seeking compassionate, dependable professionals to join our team as a Life Skills Coach.
As a Life Skills Coach, you'll work one-on-one with individuals recovering from brain injuries in their homes and throughout the community. Using evidence-based strategies, you'll help clients strengthen cognitive, behavioral, and independent living skills while encouraging confidence, self-sufficiency, and community participation.
No prior brain injury or cognitive rehabilitation experience is required. We provide
comprehensive training, ongoing coaching, and support to help you succeed.
Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate, dependable individuals to provide one-on-one support to individuals with brain injuries. Services are delivered in clients' homes, community settings, and therapy centers. The ideal candidate is passionate about empowering others through behavioral support, cognitive skill development, and independent living instruction.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one life skills coaching in clients' homes and community settings.
- Teach and reinforce cognitive, behavioral, and independent living skills.
- Support clients in achieving individualized goals and increasing independence.
- Collect behavioral data and maintain accurate documentation and progress notes.
- Implement therapeutic strategies to promote positive behaviors and skill development.
- Foster a supportive, respectful, and inclusive environment.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to support each client's treatment plan.
Important Information Before Applying
This is a community-based rehabilitation and coaching position.
While caregiving or direct support experience is highly valued, this is not a CNA, home health aide, or personal care attendant position. Life Skills Coaches focus on teaching, coaching, motivating, and reinforcing cognitive, behavioral, and independent living skills.
This role does not typically involve bathing, toileting, medication administration, skilled nursing, or other medical procedures.
Travel Requirements
This position requires traveling to clients' homes and community locations using your own reliable vehicle. While many clients are located within the primary service area, some may live outside the central service area. Applicants should be comfortable traveling to assigned client locations as needed.

Qualifications
Required
- Associate's degree or higher in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, Sociology, Education, Criminal Justice, or a related field
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable personal vehicle
- Current auto insurance
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- One year of caregiving, direct support, behavioral health, rehabilitation, mental health, education, or human services experience
- Experience working with individuals with brain injuries or neurological conditions
- RBT certification (preferred, not required)
This role starts as a part-time position during onboarding and caseload development, with the expectation of transitioning to full-time hours within 4-6 weeks for candidates with flexible availability.
