Job Description

The Cook accurately and efficiently prepares, portions, cooks, and presents a variety of hot and cold food items for multiple meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special or catered events. This role focuses on delivering high-quality food service while following established recipes, food safety standards, and company procedures. Additional duties may be assigned based on business needs and client requirements.

Responsibilities

+ Prepare and cook made-to-order foods that may require short preparation times, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

+ Prepare food and serve customers at à la carte or grill stations as needed.

+ Prepare food in accordance with applicable federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service.

+ Read food orders or follow verbal instructions and prepare food accordingly.

+ Provide the highest quality of service to customers at all times, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.

+ Follow basic recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food items.

+ Operate a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, wash, peel, cut, and shred fruits and vegetables, and trim and cut meat, poultry, or fish.

+ Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production levels, and keep records to accurately plan production and requisition supplies.

+ Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, and food preparation areas, following all client and regulatory rules and procedures.

+ Attend allergy and foodborne illness in-service training to stay current on safety and compliance requirements.

+ Comply with all HACCP policies and procedures to ensure proper food handling and storage.

+ Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner and follow incident procedures.

+ Follow all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.

+ Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training sessions, and hazard assessments.

+ Attend designated training programs, both classroom-based and virtual, to support ongoing development.

+ Receive inventory, move and lift foodstuffs and supplies as needed, and assist in stock rotation.

+ Prepare meals for customers requiring special diets, following specific guidelines and instructions.

+ Maintain high standards for work areas, food presentation, and overall kitchen appearance.

+ Arrive on time for scheduled shifts and maintain satisfactory attendance and regularity.

Essential Skills

+ Hands-on experience with food preparation and foodservice operations, including line cook and food production activities.

+ Ability to follow recipes and product directions accurately for a variety of food items such as soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts.

+ Skill in operating common kitchen equipment to measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, shred, and trim ingredients and proteins.

+ Strong understanding of basic food safety and sanitation practices, including compliance with HACCP policies and procedures.

+ Ability to read and interpret food orders, menus, and verbal instructions and translate them into timely food preparation.

+ Capability to estimate food requirements, check production levels, and assist with planning and requisitioning supplies.

+ Commitment to providing high-quality customer service in a fast-paced foodservice environment.

+ Reliability in attending work and arriving for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity.

+ Ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays as part of a flexible schedule.

+ Willingness to attend and participate in safety, allergy, and foodborne illness training sessions.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warrensburg, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.50 – $18.50/hr.
