Job Description

 

Job Summary

Has overall responsibility for performance of production lines on their shift with prime goal being the maximum utilization of labor (time) and materials, the end result being quality boxes produced at maximum machine capability with minimum waste.

 

Qualifications Strong work ethic

Knowledge of basic mechanical concepts

Ability to communicate well with others

Good organizational skills

Ability to follow both written and oral instructions

Ability to perform basic mathematic operations and read a ruler

Visual acuity to spot defects with the finished box

Ability to lift bundles of up to 35 lbs. to heights of 66”

Ability to stand on ones feet for an entire 10-1/2 hour shift

 

Lead Person Responsibilities
  1. Arrive 30 minutes prior to shift start to lubricate and start up the equipment.
  2. Notify Plant Manager of any equipment repairs required.
  3. Ensure production lines are cycling and ready to run at beginning of shift.  Blank hoppers and wrap tables should be full.
  4. Make ready machines as needed (change box size).  Note the speed with which the make ready is conducted and the quality of the make ready ultimately impact the prime goal in “job summary” above.
  5. Keep machines supplied with necessary materials for production of boxes—this includes adhesive, stay tape, box blanks, and wrap.
  6. Troubleshoot box defects. In the event the defect is not a correctable defect (for instance, a printing defect), consult with Plant Manager.
  7. Monitor quality on the box production lines and shut down production lines and correct the issue should the defect/spoilage rate ever exceed 10%.  Inspect quality set-outs every 2 hours.

Addendum-Mary Kay Work Instructions for Timewise Repair Set Box

 

  • Adhesive is to be added as per the following “recipe”--Olympic Starflex 1158 (11#) with LD Davis NW0560 CRL (5#).
  • Glue solids as per the reading on the refractometer are to be 50-54.  Readings are to be twice daily—once at the beginning of the shift, and again after the meal break (6 hours into shift) in addition to prior to starting the job.  In the event that the glue is discovered to be out of this range when checked, notify the Plant Manager in order to determine if corrective measures are required.  Record required data on the Mary Kay Glue Inspection Report tied to the job traveler. When completed, turn into plant bookkeeper with time sheets.
