Job Description
A laborer/apprentice is an entry-level employee responsible for working as part of a crew to complete commercial roofing work.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
•
Work with crew to complete all aspects of jobs assigned by the company, including tear-off, repairs, installation and other related duties as assigned.
o
Be prepared to learn all aspects of jobs assigned by the foreman or lead man as necessary for job completion.
o
Be on time for all shifts and ready to go at the assigned time with all personal tools and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
•
Work safely.
o
Assist in setup and tear down of safety equipment as instructed.
o
Abide by all job-site safety requirements, including PPE, fall protection and others.
•
Participate in training.
o
Participate in weekly toolbox talks and monthly safety meetings.
o
Participate in all other training as assigned.
•
Deliver excellent quality and customer satisfaction.
o
Learn to perform work according to company standards.
o
Collaborate with the team for the benefit of all.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Work Skills – Laborers/apprentices must exhibit basic skills necessary to work in roofing.
Roof system installation – the ability to learn necessary skills and execute them correctly
Attention to detail – the ability to pay attention to quality and safety
Language skills- ability to listen to, understand, and follow directions and read, analyze, and interpret work-related documents
Safety and security – ability to observe safety and security procedures and use equipment and materials properly and effectively
Productivity – ability to work efficiently and accurately to meet productivity standards
Cost consciousness – ability to contribute to profits and conserve company resources
Teamwork – Roof laborers/apprentices must be able to work well with others
Teamwork – ability to work with others to accomplish goals; balances team and individual responsibilities; gives and welcomes feedback
Experience
•
Previous commercial roofing experience preferred
•
OSHA 10-hour card/30-hour card preferred
•
Driver’s license preferred
•
Ability to work 8- to 12-hour shifts, weekdays and weekends
•
Available to work out of town preferred
