Responsibilities

Assemble fabricated metal products, electrical equipment, appliances, and complex aerospace subassemblies according to written directions, blueprints, and schematics.

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings, bills of material, and customer specifications, then build assemblies to those specifications.

Perform complex mechanical assembly of aviation and space-industry components and subassemblies, including precision fitting and alignment.

Install and fit bearings, bushings, seals, nutplates, fasteners, and related precision components using appropriate tools and sealants.

Apply sealants, including BAC5000 or similar products when required, to achieve proper sealing and meet product documentation and workmanship criteria.

Verify proper fit, alignment, and function of assembled parts and components using measuring devices and precision instruments.

Use hand tools, torque tools, and other assembly equipment safely and effectively during bench assembly and production work.

Maintain logs, records, and reports related to production output, machine maintenance, product inconsistencies, and quality checks.

Inventory tools, parts, and supplies, and coordinate with materials handlers when replenishment is needed.

Perform periodic product checks in accordance with company policy to ensure quality, uniform completion, and compliance with specifications; resolve issues and escalate concerns as needed.

Make decisions regarding product acceptance based on product documentation, quality standards, and company workmanship criteria.

Meet strict deadlines and maintain productivity while shifting between multiple activities or sources of information.

Concentrate on tasks for extended periods of time without becoming distracted, and resume work efficiently if interruptions occur.

Apply general rules to specific problems to produce logical answers and solutions, and combine pieces of information to form sound conclusions.

Recognize when something is wrong or may go wrong, and take appropriate action to prevent or correct issues.

Arrange parts, components, and information in specific orders or patterns according to defined rules, including numerical patterns and mechanical sequences.

Visualize how assemblies will look after components are changed or rearranged, and plan work accordingly.

Maintain applicable skills, knowledge, and certifications as required for the role and evolving production needs.

Perform other related duties as assigned to support production, quality, and continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

2-3 years of previous bench assembly experience, preferably in complex mechanical or aerospace-related assembly.

Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly involving bearings, bushings, sealing components, nutplates, and precision subassemblies.

Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, work orders, and other technical manufacturing documentation.

Strong understanding of production and processing, including raw materials such as hardware and sealants, assembly processes, and quality control tools.

Ability to interpret and work from design data including drawings, bills of material (BOM), and customer specification materials.

Capability to make sound decisions regarding product acceptance based on product documentation and workmanship criteria.

High-level proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Project, for tracking, reporting, and planning activities.

Knowledge of manufacturing documentation processes, including work orders, blueprints, and BOM workflows.

Strong English language skills, including grammar, spelling, and composition for accurate documentation and communication.

Ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities, shifting time requirements, and strict deadlines.

Capability to work both in structured and unstructured work environments, setting tasks and priorities with minimal direction.

Strong reasoning, problem-solving, and pattern-recognition skills to identify issues, develop solutions, and maintain quality.

Ability to quickly make sense of, combine, and organize information into meaningful patterns and actions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in complex assembly within aviation, aerospace, or space-industry environments is highly beneficial.

Familiarity with BAC5000 sealant or similar aerospace-grade sealants is preferred.

Knowledge of sheet metal assembly, bushings, nutplates, and sealants used in precision manufacturing.

Experience using GSS or similar manufacturing and production systems.

Comfort with competition and awareness of competitive pressures in a high-performance manufacturing environment.

Ability to generate original, clever, or unusual ideas to solve problems and support continuous improvement.

Strong interpersonal skills for working with internal teams and external customers or the public.

Ability to address conflict situations constructively and maintain professionalism in challenging interactions.

Capacity to compare similarities and differences among sets of information quickly and accurately.

Ability to identify hidden patterns in technical data, drawings, or process information to improve assembly outcomes.
