Job Description

The Class A Fitter/Welder will perform advanced fitting and welding tasks on structural steel and fabricated components in a manufacturing environment. This role requires strong proficiency in MIG, flux-core, and TIG welding processes, along with the ability to interpret blueprints and complete high-quality welds that meet rigorous testing standards. The position operates on a first-shift schedule and involves working on a variety of fabrication and pipe welding projects.

Responsibilities

+ Perform advanced fitting and welding operations on structural steel, fabricated assemblies, and pipe components in a manufacturing setting.

+ Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to lay out, fit, and weld materials to required dimensions and tolerances.

+ Set up and operate MIG, flux-core, and TIG welding equipment to complete high-quality welds on plate and pipe in multiple positions.

+ Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, and fitting components to ensure proper alignment and joint integrity.

+ Complete 3G MIG/flux-core plate welds and 6G TIG pipe welds in accordance with established quality and testing standards.

+ Inspect welds visually and with appropriate tools to verify quality, accuracy, and compliance with specifications.

+ Follow established fabrication procedures and structural steel welding practices to ensure consistency and reliability of finished products.

+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all safety policies and procedures related to welding and fabrication.

+ Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and project deadlines on first shift.

+ Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on welding equipment and tools to ensure proper operation.

Essential Skills

+ Minimum 3 years of fitting and welding experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent training.

+ Demonstrated proficiency in MIG welding, including 3G MIG plate welding.

+ Demonstrated proficiency in flux-core welding, including 3G flux-core plate welding.

+ Demonstrated proficiency in TIG welding, including 6G TIG pipe welding.

+ Ability to pass a 3G MIG/flux-core plate test to defined standards.

+ Ability to pass a 6G TIG pipe test to defined standards.

+ Strong blueprint reading skills to interpret welding symbols, dimensions, and fabrication requirements.

+ Experience working with structural steel and fabrication processes.

+ Solid understanding of welding safety practices and procedures in a manufacturing environment.

+ Ability to work consistently on first shift, Monday through Friday, from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Equivalent technical training or apprenticeship in welding, fitting, or metal fabrication.

+ Experience in pipe welding in a production or industrial environment.

+ Familiarity with a variety of welding positions and joint configurations beyond 3G and 6G.

+ Ability to use measuring tools, layout tools, and basic fabrication equipment to support fitting tasks.

+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and assemblies.

+ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing and fabrication facility focused on structural steel and pipe welding. You will work on first shift, Monday through Friday, from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., using MIG, flux-core, and TIG welding equipment along with standard fabrication tools such as grinders, cutters, and layout instruments. The environment involves standing for extended periods, working around welding arcs, heat, noise, and metal fabrication processes, with appropriate safety gear required. Work is performed on the shop floor in a production-oriented setting where adherence to safety procedures, protective clothing, and proper use of welding equipment is essential.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Collinsville, OK.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 – $32.00/hr.
