Job Title: Traveling Construction Laborer
Job Description
This role supports a full-service concrete operation that specializes in foundations, flatwork, and decorative concrete. You will perform a variety of hands-on construction tasks, including general labor, equipment support, and concrete-related work, while collaborating closely with a field crew on changing job sites.
Responsibilities
+ Arrive at the shop in Olathe around 6:00 a.m. each day to meet with the crew and prepare for the workday.
+ Carpool from the shop to varying jobsites and return at the end of the day, typically finishing between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
+ Participate in a first-day orientation to learn safety procedures, work expectations, and jobsite protocols, understanding that the initial day may be a shortened shift.
+ Perform general construction labor tasks such as material handling, site preparation, cleanup, and assisting skilled trades on concrete projects.
+ Support concrete foundation, flatwork, and decorative concrete operations by helping set up forms, move and place materials, and maintain a clean and organized jobsite.
+ Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks under the direction of supervisors or experienced crew members.
+ Follow blueprints and instructions accurately to ensure concrete work and related tasks meet quality and specification requirements.
+ Assist with operating or supporting equipment such as forklifts, gradalls, or other lifts when trained and authorized.
+ Apply knowledge of gyp-crete or similar materials when required for specific projects.
+ Adhere to OSHA 10 safety principles and all site safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.
+ Maintain strong attention to detail and communicate clearly with teammates to complete work efficiently and safely.
Essential Skills
+ 1-2 years of previous experience in a construction general laborer role.
+ Ability to perform heavy lifting and sustained physical labor in a construction environment.
+ Experience with general construction tasks, including concrete-related work.
+ Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
+ Ability to read and follow blueprints and detailed instructions accurately.
+ Strong attention to detail and reliability in following directions and safety procedures.
+ OSHA 10 certification or equivalent safety training.
+ Basic familiarity with concrete work, including foundations, flatwork, and decorative applications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience operating equipment such as forklifts, gradalls, or other lifts.
+ Gyp-crete experience or exposure to similar floor underlayment materials.
+ Experience in equipment operation on construction sites.
+ Comfort working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
+ Willingness to participate in orientation and ongoing training to build skills in concrete construction.

Work Environment

Work generally concludes between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., with the first day including an orientation that may shorten the initial shift. The role involves active construction sites, regular use of hand tools and power tools, and exposure to concrete work, equipment operation, and varying weather conditions. Safety practices, including OSHA 10 principles, are an integral part of daily operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Olathe, KS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 – $21.00/hr.
