Job Description
This role offers the opportunity to develop and apply core carpentry skills in a precast concrete production environment. You will work under the guidance of a crew leader to learn and perform tasks such as setting up and maintaining forms, handling reinforcing materials, and contributing to the fabrication of precast concrete panels in accordance with architectural specifications and industry standards. The position emphasizes steady skill development, teamwork, safety, and consistent productivity throughout the workday.
Responsibilities
+ Work under the direct supervision of a crew leader to learn and apply basic carpentry skills, including setting up and oiling forms, laying mesh, tying reinforcing bars and steel, setting inserts, striking off, stripping forms, and general cleanup.
+ Utilize approved piece tickets to construct forms for specific precast concrete panels in conformance with architectural specifications and applicable PCI requirements.
+ Meet regularly with the crew leader to discuss anticipated production sequences, identify potential form construction problems, and provide input on improving work processes and workflow.
+ Provide accurate information to the crew leader on the inventory status of all form-related materials so that supplies can be ordered in a timely manner and scheduled work can be completed without interruption.
+ Properly maintain tools and equipment, ensuring that appropriate safety guards are in place and used correctly.
+ Manage your own carpentry workload to meet production goals and maintain steady output throughout the shift.
+ Take initiative to remain involved in productive work throughout the workday, either by performing tasks related to fabrication of precast concrete products or by proactively informing the crew leader of your availability for other assignments.
+ Arrive at work regularly and on time in accordance with company policy, demonstrating reliability and commitment.
+ Function as a team player by showing mutual respect for coworkers, supporting others as needed, and actively looking for ways to improve how work is done.
+ Demonstrate loyalty to the company and contribute positively to the overall work environment.
+ Assume responsibility for maintaining plant safety in accordance with the company Safety Manual and under the direction of the Safety Coordinator or Plant Safety Coordinator.
+ Maintain a clean and orderly work area, supporting overall plant cleanliness and safety.
Essential Skills
+ 1-2 years of MIG welding experience, with consideration for welders who are recent graduates and can demonstrate foundational skills.
+ Practical carpentry experience in an industrial or construction setting.
+ Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for layout and form construction.
+ Experience using power tools safely and effectively in a production environment.
+ Capability to construct forms for precast concrete panels using approved piece tickets and following detailed specifications.
+ Strong attention to safety procedures, including proper use of safety guards on tools and adherence to plant safety guidelines.
+ Dependable attendance and punctuality in line with company policy.
+ Ability to work as part of a team, communicate clearly with a crew leader, and follow instructions.
+ Physical ability to work in an indoor/outdoor concrete facility, including standing for extended periods and performing manual tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in assembly work, particularly related to concrete or structural components.
+ Familiarity with precast concrete production processes and PCI requirements.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage personal workload and prioritize tasks in a production environment.
+ Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to updated equipment and processes.
+ Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled environment with varying temperatures.
+ Interest in growing into more advanced carpentry or fabrication responsibilities over time.

Work Environment
This position is based in an indoor/outdoor, non-climate-controlled concrete facility where you will work around precast concrete production equipment and carpentry tools. The typical shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with opportunities for voluntary overtime. The setting is hands-on and physically active, requiring comfort with working in varying temperatures, around concrete materials, and using tape measures, power tools, and welding equipment. Work is performed in a production plant environment that emphasizes safety, proper tool maintenance, and adherence to established safety manuals and guidelines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, KS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 – $24.00/hr.
