Overview
We are seeking a Public Safety Officer , sometimes referred to as a Hospital Security Officer or Healthcare Security Officer . The P ublic S afety O fficer will p erform a range of security duties including electronic surveillance and routine manual patrols to ensure the safety of the facility. The Public Safety Officer will c oordinate responses to incidents involving patients, staff, and visitors while enforcing policies and procedures fairly and consistently. The Public Safety Officer will c ollaborate with the Environment of Care Committee to support a multidisciplinary approach to safety and security at our hospital . Shift’s Available:? Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):+ Access Control and Patrols: m onitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas; conduct regular interior and exterior patrols to deter theft, violence, or unsafe behavior
+ Emergency Response: r espond to emergency codes and assist with crowd control, evacuation, or containment as needed
+ De-escalation and Conflict Management : i ntervene in disruptive situations using de-escalation techniques to calm agitated patients or visitors, often in collaboration with clinical staff
+ Patient and Visitor Assistance: e scort patients or visitors safely through the facility, provide directions, and assist with lost-and-found or personal property issues
+ Incident Documentation: w rite detailed reports on incidents, accidents, or safety hazards and report findings to supervisors or risk management
Qualifications
Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:+ High School Diploma or Equivalent required
+ Valid State Driver’s license upon hire and maintained current
+ Current DMV report
Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:+ Experience in Healthcare security or related field preferred
+ Certification from IAHSS (International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety) preferred
