Position Summary

WSU Tech is seeking a student-focused and engaging Psychology/Sociology Instructor to teach courses within the Social Sciences discipline. The instructor will provide high-quality instruction that promotes student success, critical thinking, and real-world application of psychological and sociological concepts. Courses may be offered in-person, online, or in a hybrid format.

 

  • Compensation: $675/credit hour
  • Worksite Location: South Campus/Online Courses

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned Psychology and/or Sociology courses in accordance with approved curriculum and learning outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain course materials, assessments, and instructional resources.
  • Create an inclusive and engaging learning environment that supports diverse student populations.
  • Evaluate and provide timely feedback on student assignments, projects, and examinations.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
  • Utilize the institution's learning management system and instructional technologies.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and administration.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and college initiatives as appropriate.
  • Comply with all institutional policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.
Requirements Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, or a related field OR master’s degree and 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous teaching, training, tutoring, mentoring, or instructional experience.
  • Experience with online or hybrid course delivery.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and educational technology.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of psychological and sociological theories, principles, and research methods.
  • Ability to engage students through active learning strategies.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to student success and academic excellence.
