Job Description:
Position Summary
This position supports the airline in-service fleet on repairs of aircraft structure and is responsible for the creation of quality repair solutions in a timely manner from a Design point of view. Duties include performing design efforts for both metallic and non-metallic parts while working in close collaboration with static stress and fatigue colleagues to provide repair solutions. Methods include the use of multiple applications to research aircraft configurations and develop efficient repair solutions to satisfy airworthiness requirements and customers (Airlines/MROs).
Primary Responsibilities
Technical Solutions
Create high quality integrated and certified engineering repair solutions for the airlines and internal customers within given time scales.
Review and interpret damage reports of aircraft structures from the Maintenance Repair Organization and develop quality repair solutions with little support. Create or modify a wide range of difficult repair tasks.
Create or modify technical documents such as: Technical Communications, Technical Dispositions, Repair Instructions, Repair Drawings within various Airbus computer based applications with high quality and efficiency
Collaborate with Static Stress, F&DT and other appropriate Airbus departments to come up with optimum solutions. Perform functional and technical tasks with guidance
Provide responses to moderate to difficult repair queries by giving guidance as required within Airbus Operations and Customer Services in a clear and concise manner. Ensure that the final repair solution brings the aircraft back into an airworthy condition.
Ensure all tasks and activities required are executed to planned time scales.
Effectively communicate issues, solutions, ideas, and status of current work internally and externally.
Able to work towards or obtain a technical signatory to sign off repair data.
Additional Responsibilities
Identify and support local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods and tools improvements.
Required Education
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis and mechanics of materials.
Preferred Education
Master's Degree in an Engineering discipline
Required Experience
Minimum six (6) years total experience in design/analysis with airframe structures
Preferred Experience
Experience in composite airframe structures
MRO/Fleet Engineering experience; MRB Experience
Travel Required
5% Domestic and International
Citizenship
Authorized to Work in the US
Required Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities
Frequently use widely known technical principles, theories, and concepts to solve technical problems.
Capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment both independently and collectively.
Dependable, self-motivated and accessible.
Able to perform work activity tasks in an organized manner with minimal direction once sufficient training has occurred.
Apply knowledge of repair and maintenance documentation, techniques and procedures (SRM, NTM, IPC etc.).
Capable of creating and delivering technical documents and presentations without guidance
Strong computer background, including MS Excel and Google Suite application experience (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail)
