Position Summary:
Constructs, assembles, and/or installs components and products in a manufacturing environment, according to established specifications, quality standards and safety procedures. Involves working with hand tools, power tools, and automated equipment to ensure accurate and efficient production.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ability to understand and retain instructions.
- Reads and interprets blueprints or schematics.
- Use hand tools or portable powered tools, and/or operate equipment as necessary.
- Loads and unloads previously setup machines, such as arbor presses, drill presses, taps, spot-welding machines, riveting machines, milling machines, or broaches, to perform fastening, force fitting, or light metal-cutting operation on assembly line.
- May be assigned to different workstations as production needs require or shift from one station to another to reduce fatigue factor.
- May work at bench as member of assembly group that processes or assembles one or two specific parts and passes unit to another worker.
- May perform other duties as assigned in support of team, departmental, and organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and documented procedures. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
- Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
Physical and Safety Requirements:
Physical Demands
- Lifting & Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs frequently throughout the shift.
- Stamina & Positioning: Ability to stand for 8–10 hours, walk, crawl, climb ladders, or work in confined spaces.
- Manual Dexterity: Performs tasks requiring precise hand-eye coordination, including assembly, tool operation, and use of heavy machinery.
- Sensory Abilities: Ability to visually inspect materials and equipment; detects auditory warning signals in environments with ambient noise.
Safety Requirements
- Safety Compliance: Ability to follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- PPE Compliance: Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment including safety-toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection; additional PPE such as face shields, goggles, aprons, or respirators may be required based on position.
- Equipment Certification: Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications for forklift, powered pallet jack, and hoist/crane operation; adherence to lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and hazardous material handling protocols where applicable.
- Environmental Awareness: Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environments and near moving mechanical parts; may be exposed to varying temperature conditions depending on season and facility.
- Trip/Fall Hazards: Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace in high-traffic areas to minimize trips, fall, and collision hazards.
