Facilities Maintenance Tech IIndependence, KS Description
Job Purpose and Objectives:
Responsible for cleaning and caring for County buildings, related grounds and equipment for Montgomery County.

Position Requirements:
1. High school diploma or other equivalent
2. Two years of related job experience or training preferred
3. Ability to be fingerprinted and pass a background check
Certifications / Licenses:
1. Valid Driver’s License
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
1. Knowledge of cleaning materials, methods and practices utilized in custodial tasks
2. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
3. Knowledge of operation and care of vacuum cleaning, stripping and polishing machines and other janitorial equipment
4. Knowledge of lawn mowers, edgers and weed eaters
5. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
6. Ability to fulfill all duties with minimal supervision and to work independently
7. Assess situations rapidly and make logical decisions in a timely manner
8. Analyze facts and exercise sound judgment
9. Ability to effectively manage projects and multiple priorities simultaneously

Job Competencies: Essential Functions include the following. - Maintains buildings by performing minor and routine painting, plumbing and other related maintenance activities
- Assists the Building Maintenance Technician and Supervisor on projects as needed
- Mows lawns, trims shrubbery, cultivates flowers and waters lawns
- Treats lawns for the control of weeds
- Sets up tables and chairs for special jury trials and meetings
- Maintains inventory of all paper products including copy paper, paper towels and toilet paper
- Works in the Department of Corrections around inmates
- Enforces and maintains compliance with all federal, state and local laws and ordinances
- Performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary
- Complies with all organizational and departmental policies and procedures
- Operates all job-related equipment, machinery, tools and other aids as required or needed
