Job Description
Exline, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Control Technician – I&E to support the installation, service, and troubleshooting of electronic control systems used on large internal combustion engines and industrial equipment across the United States. This field-based role is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude, developing electrical knowledge, and the desire to travel nationwide while gaining hands-on experience with industry-leading technologies. This position plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality installations, reliable engine automation, and safe operation of customer equipment in the field. Key Responsibilities Installation & Commissioning- Install electronic control systems, sensors, and end devices on industrial natural gas and combustion engines.
- Run conduit, stainless-steel tubing, and wire routing for control and instrumentation systems.
- Assist with start-up, calibration, and verification of installed systems to ensure proper operation.
- Diagnose and resolve control system issues at customer sites.
- Perform equipment checks, system tests, and on-site adjustments as needed.
- Provide timely communication to project managers and supervisors regarding job status, challenges, and solutions.
- Assist in building, wiring, and assembling electronic components before deployment to job sites.
- Perform quality checks to ensure all parts and equipment are field-ready.
- Maintain accurate inventory of tools, materials, wiring supplies, and installation hardware.
- Maintain Exline field equipment, testing tools, and job-site materials in proper working condition.
- Adhere to all Exline safety standards, customer site requirements, and applicable electrical codes.
- Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support senior technicians as assigned.
- Perform other tasks related to field services or shop duties as directed by management.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with interest in electrical/controls work.
- Basic understanding of electrical concepts, circuits, or instrumentation.
- Ability to work independently in remote field locations with minimal supervision.
- Excellent work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to problem-solve under pressure.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (past 3 years).
- Must be 21 or older to meet DOT requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card.
- Willingness to travel extensively (90–100%).
- Experience with field installations or industrial mechanical/electrical systems.
- Familiarity working around large industrial engines or rotating equipment.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Previous field service, construction, or instrumentation experience.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and working in tight or elevated spaces.
- Regular lifting of up to 25 lbs; occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in environments with noise, fumes, vibration, and varying temperatures.
- Visual acuity required, including depth perception and close-focus capability.
- Extensive travel across the U.S. with extended stays at job sites.
- Daily interaction with industrial environments, engine rooms, compressor stations, or field facilities.
