ESSENTIAL ABILITIES FOR ALL ADJUTANT GENERAL JOB CLASSIFICATIONS

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE: Performs preventative maintenance (PM) tasks assigned by CE Production/Work Control via the IEMS PM WO System. This involves the interpretation of equipment manuals, the reading of equipment wiring schematic and ladder logic diagrams, knowledge of several different manufacturers' electrical and electronic equipment, and the knowledge of what indicators to check for on a particular piece of equipment to predict pending failure or the need to perform further maintenance. Systems incumbent performs PM duties on includes Emergency Egress Lighting testing and repair; Fire Alarm, Detection and Suppression periodic maintenance; Facilities Grounding and Lightning Protection Systems (LPS) PMs; Interior and exterior electrical distribution PM tasks; PM inspection and testing of Street and Parking Lot lights; Electrical safety equipment functional use management – inspection and testing. Reviewed annually by Supervisor.

 

ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS TROUBLESHOOTING/REPAIR: Performs electrical systems troubleshooting and repairs throughout the Wing as requested by Customers or as identified by CE personnel and Production/Work Control. These electrical systems consist of: Street and Parking lot lighting; Bldg. attached exterior lighting, Fire Alarm, Detection and Suppression systems; DDC Bldg. Automation systems controlling, lighting, utility monitoring, and security gates; Facilities primary and secondary electrical distribution systems; Interior and exterior lighting repairs; Installing or expanding additional building electrical circuits; Installing and troubleshooting specified lighting as required; Installing underground circuits as needed; Accurately troubleshoot electrical problems; Plan and repair problems in a safe and effective manner and in the most cost efficient way, making a readable and complete list of materials, and ensuring the work site is managed with the customer’s and fellow workers safety in mind, with the work site being left free of debris, all tools and equipment accounted for and put away. The ability to move objects weighing 80 pounds and the ability to safely work at heights up to 100 feet. Electrical systems include, but are not limited to 12,470V 3 phase AC primary system, secondary building electrical systems of 480/277/120V 3 phase/1 phase, facilities grounding, cathodic protection, and lightning protection systems. Requires experienced diagnostic and repair skills, thorough knowledge of base systems, possession of a valid driver's license, and working outside whenever required. Reviewed annually by Supervisor.

 

CONTACTS: Incumbent is expected to appropriately represent his organization to the customer. This requires the projection of a professional and cooperative image, the ability to develop effective working relationships with a variety of people both internal and external to the base; the ability to communicate in a clear and understandable manner in person, by phone or computer. The incumbent must present a positive image to the customer of himself and CE and have good communication skills. Incumbent has no authority to obligate government funds. Reviewed annually by Supervisor.

 

RELATED TASKS: Performs other related duties as assigned to assist CE with all work and mission requirements. The incumbent is part of a Civil Engineer facility maintenance team. He/she may be required to assist in other areas including, but not limited to, mechanical, general facilities maintenance, grounds maintenance, limited carpentry, cleaning trucks and equipment, painting and marking equipment, assisting with base supply in material and equipment pick-up and delivery, snow removal, and general base beautification duties. Incumbents will be on standby duty 24/7 when carrying the On-Call phone for CE after hours’ calls. Special skills are required for these duties; to include a working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and structural equipment are needed to achieve team goals is essential. Computer use to read/send e-mail, track meetings, and interpret. spreadsheets, view facility drawings, and creating documents are essential skills for this position. Reviewed annually by Supervisor. The incumbent belongs to a Civil Engineer facility team with team goals. The employees will proactively and continuously find ways to improve work efficiency and present them in team meetings or by other appropriate means and offer suggestions or solutions. It is the philosophy of Base Civil Engineering that individual employees are empowered to effect improvements in work and team efficiency.

 

TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES: Maintains accountability and usability of all assigned shop equipment, hand tools and other equipment, to ensure that equipment/tools/supplies are in usable condition and are available when needed. This includes inspection and testing of all electrical safety equipment. Reviewed annually by supervisor.
