This employee applies technical expertise to inspect and investigate construction projects, ensuring contractors adhere to plans and specifications. Work is guided by established goals and evaluated through progress toward completion. This role requires a self-starter who manages projects effectively, communicates with other divisions and departments effectively, supervises direct reports, makes sound decisions, and keeps construction moving efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Examples of Work Performed
- Inspects construction projects and files daily reports.
- Confers with contractors in the solution of problems.
- Coordinates pay estimates with contractor.
- Composes correspondence and reports related to projects.
- Conducts Prebid & Pre-construction conferences.
- Performs utility locates and general field surveys.
- Completion of work assignments will require the operation of a vehicle.
- Demonstrates strong project management skills, including prioritizing tasks, tracking progress, and supporting timely project completion.
- Manage projects to maintain schedules, resolve issues, and keep construction moving efficiently.

Requirements of Work
- General knowledge of all types of building, paving and utility construction.
- Ability to interpret building, paving and utility plans and specifications.
- Ability to lean and reach as need to read and interpret building plans and specifications from a print that maybe as large as 36 by 48 inches with information printed as small as twenty characters per inch.
- Ability to traverse uneven terrain, climb steps or ladders, and tolerate environmental nuisances associated with construction sites.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, and the public.
- Ability to work outdoors when inclement weather conditions exist.
- Ability to operate a computer and perform word processing and e-mail functions.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Strong computer proficiency, including the ability to learn and use project management, inspection, and reporting software.
- Valid Kansas driver's license and the ability to maintain.
- Ability to effectively plan, organize and supervise work of others.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make informed decisions per the to plans and specifications with minimal supervision.
- Ability to plan, organize, supervise, and mentor direct reports, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and in compliance.
