Sr Accountant - Inventory

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Functions as a working group leader by planning, organizing, and coordinating accounting activities to meet established objectives and schedules including the assignment of duties, monitoring of work completion and approval of reports, journal entries, and other data. 
  • Performs special assignments or assigns projects and provides results to management. 
  • Prepares and submits assigned journal entries and account reconciliations. 
  • Coordinates the development and maintenance of internal procedures and work instructions for accounting and/or budget activities. 
  • Coordinates the training of personnel in various accounting activities. 
  • Maintains accuracy of the financial systems and proposes corrections as necessary. 
  • Recommends accounting treatment of non-routine business transactions, performs ad-hoc analysis, and completes special projects. 
  • Serves as a consultant and external spokesperson for the Finance organization on major matters pertaining to policies, plans and objectives. 
  • Performs duties within receivables, billings, project accounting, and DOE Reporting.
  • Provides excellent customer service to NNSA and DOD customers.  
  • Partners with internal and external auditors to answer questions and provide documentation timely.  
  • Contributes to the development of new processes, principles, and concepts. 
You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with at least five (5) years relevant experience 
  • OR in lieu of the above, a High School Diploma or equivalent with at least seven (7) years relevant experience 
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time  
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business  
  • United States Citizenship 
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)

  • Knowledge of fund/governmental accounting 
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP application

  • Ability to take initiative and drive process improvement.
