Job Description
SummaryAccountant II performs accounting functions of variable complexity to ensure an accurate accumulation and reporting of financial data.
Duties and Responsibilities- Perform a variety of Project Cost accounting functions.
- Perform project accounting activities within PeopleSoft including set-up of contracts, projects, and activities.
- Interface and collaborate with the Accounting and FP&A teams, Program Managers and Project Analysts, as needed.
- Analyze and coordinate cost transfer transactions, including internal customer interface, ensuring compliance with procedures.
- Prepare cost overrun reports, analyze, and communicate to internal project managers to ensure timely resolution.
- Prepare and submit assigned journal entries and account reconciliations and maintain working papers required to record accounting activities.
- Compile data for periodic accounting reports for distribution.
- Review and analyze accounting data for compliance with policies, procedures, laws, regulations and DOE/NNSA orders.
- Perform special projects as requested.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, and a minimum two (2) years Accounting or Finance related experience.
OR in lieu of a degree four (4) years of Accounting or Finance experience.
• Ability to travel up to 5% of the time, as determined by the needs of the business.
• Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by the needs of the business.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
• United States Citizenship
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
• Intermediate level of proficiency applying accounting principles, theories, and concept.
• Contributes to the development of new processes, principles, and concepts.
• General understanding and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, PeopleSoft, and ERP Software.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work with multiple teams of people and inspire those to work together to reach a common goal.
