Job Description

The CNC Plasma Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC plasma cutting machines to produce high-quality metal parts according to specifications. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to read technical drawings to ensure accurate and efficient production.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC plasma cutting machines to cut metal parts based on blueprints and job specifications
• Read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and material lists
• Load and position materials on the cutting table using proper lifting techniques or equipment
• Monitor machine operations to ensure precision and quality of cuts
• Inspect finished parts using measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, etc.)
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment
• Adjust machine settings (speed, temperature, torch height) for optimal performance
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies
• Document production data and report any issues or defects

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience operating CNC plasma or similar CNC machinery preferred
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
• Basic math and measurement skills
• Strong attention to detail and quality control
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in metal fabrication or manufacturing
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software
• Forklift or overhead crane experience
• Knowledge of different metals and cutting techniques

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment (heat, noise, dust)

Work Environment

• Manufacturing/industrial setting
• Exposure to sparks, fumes, and loud machinery (PPE required)

Schedule

• Full-time (may include overtime, evenings, or weekends depending on production needs)
