About This Role
The School of Health Sciences, within the College of Health and Human Sciences, is currently seeking a 9-month Instructor or Teaching Assistant Professor to join their Food and Nutrition Program. This position will teach undergraduate courses to prepare students for impactful roles in food, nutrition, and health; contribute to the broader missions of the school and college; and is expected to support collegiality, with the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary setting. This non-tenure track position will report directly to the program chair.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Teach undergraduate courses in nutrition, dietetics, and public health, which may include: Introduction to Health Professions, Introduction to Public Health, Personal Wellness, Nutritional Assessment, Life Span Nutrition, etc.
- Serve on committees related to program, school, and college issues and appropriate professional/industry associations
- Other duties as assigned
This 9-month position at the rank of instructor or teaching assistant professor has a preferred starting date of August 2026, with a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Food and Nutrition Program offers comprehensive and interdisciplinary training across three undergraduate degrees: Nutrition and Health, Nutritional Sciences, and Sports Nutrition. These programs are closely integrated with Public Health and Dietetics, preparing students for a wide range of health-related careers and advanced professional training. The curriculum combines strong foundations in biological, chemical, and behavioral sciences with applied learning experiences that support careers in healthcare, community nutrition, sports performance, and the food industry.

What You'll Need to Succeed
Minimum Qualifications:
- To be eligible for the rank of Instructor:
- Master's degree in human nutrition, food science, nutrition science, public health, dietetics, health sciences, or related field
- To be eligible for the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor:
- Doctoral degree in human nutrition, food science, nutrition science, public health, dietetics, health sciences, or related field
- Evidence of strong organizational skills
- Track record of effective teaching strategies
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty and administrators
- Desire and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Experience with college/university-level teaching
- Professional involvement in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and/or state affiliate
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: Registered Dietitian (RD), public health (MPH), nutritional epidemiology, medical nutrition therapy, pharmacology, or related field
