Job Summary
The Manager, FP&A – Highway & Chemical is a key member of the FP&A organization and serves as the primary finance partner to the Highway & Chemical Sales, Supply Chain, and Operations teams. This role owns financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and performance management for the Highway & Chemical business, providing data-driven insights and leadership to support decision-making, value creation, and execution of the business strategy.
The Manager is responsible for driving financial stewardship of the bulk deicing and chemical business, leading the annual operating plan and executive business reviews. This role plays a critical part in improving financial and operational performance, aligning commercial and operational plans, and supporting strategic initiatives through rigorous analysis, strong business partnership, and clear communication with senior leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Planning
- Lead the Highway & Chemical business planning process.
- Build and manage baseline budgets; evaluate and recommend adjustments based on sales volumes, pricing, growth initiatives, market trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide key financial drivers and customer/market insights.
- Provide financial leadership and analytical support for strategic initiatives, investments, and business development opportunities.
Financial Analysis & Business Partnership
- Analyze key P&L drivers including revenue, pricing, cost of goods sold, margin, and cost-to-serve to deliver actionable insights.
- Clearly communicate financial risks and opportunities, translating complex analysis into concise, executive-ready insights.
- Partner closely with Sales, Supply Chain, and Operations to identify trends, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities, and support execution of key initiatives.
Reporting & Performance Management
- Prepare and distribute profitability and performance reporting by business segment, product, channel, and key customers, highlighting variances and underlying drivers.
- Report monthly performance versus budget and KPIs, providing meaningful commentary to business leaders and Corporate Finance.
- Customize reporting and analytics to meet the needs of senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Support stakeholders with periodic reporting on actuals performance versus plan.
Process Improvement & Data Enablement
- Drive continuous improvement in FP&A processes, tools, and reporting capabilities.
- Automate and enhance reporting through development of Power BI dashboards and improved Excel models and templates.
- Gather and analyze large, complex data sets to identify trends and support decision making.
