Job Description
Position Summary
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading procurement activities across the organization to ensure materials, components, and services are available and meet company quality standards. This position manages all supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and ensures supplier reliability.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage and oversee the entire procurement lifecycle and assist in daily purchasing activities to ensure timely delivery of materials and components that support production schedules.
- Review, negotiate, and finalize contracts to optimize cost and mitigate risk by analyzing market trends and recommending strategic adjustments to procurement strategies.
- Collaborate with Production Planning, Engineering, and Operations to forecast material needs and resolve supply issues.
- Oversee accurate purchase order data, lead times, and delivery tracking in ERP systems.
- Evaluate supplier performance, monitoring key metrics like quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
- Facilitate supplier communication to ensure that product requirements and deadlines are met in addition to sourcing new suppliers to meet business requirements.
- Effectively and continually communicate order status, delivery updates, and changes to all invested departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
