Job Description
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Technician, under the direction of the Facility Manager, is to maintain all owned, rented, and donated Center locations, ensuring they are safe and hazard free. This would include the preserving and maintaining of infrastructure as well as assisting with all building-related activities. The ideal candidate will be well-organized and able to optimize the use of space and equipment while minimizing operating costs. Priorities will include ensuring Center facilities are optimally functioning, problem-free, safe and welcoming to employees, clients and visitors.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist with installations and refurbishments
- Assist with upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards
- Inspect buildings to determine the need for repairs or renovations
- Strive to minimize costs while providing prompt, professional service
- Assist with activities like meeting/event set-up, waste management, building security, etc.
- Assist with moving office furniture, painting and cleaning according to business needs
- Interface with vendors, service workers, and contractors
- Keep both financial and non-financial records
- Take direction from Manager on tasks to complete within assigned time frames
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job
- Trouble shooting problems
- Other duties as determined
Qualifications:
The Maintenance Technician position requires:
- Minimum 2 years of experience with minor plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, carpentry, drywall, painting, furniture repair, cleaning, appliance repair and installation
- Experience serving in a facility maintenance position
- Knowledge of basic accounting and finance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Good analytical/critical thinking
- Familiar with commercial building codes
- A valid and unencumbered driver's license
- Ability to travel to each service site and or property of the Center
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50-70 lbs.
- Ability to work outside or in dirty, dusty or noisy surroundings
- Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service
- Ability to work independently, as well as with others
- Regular work hours in addition to on-call responsibilities that would mandate a trip to the facility during on-call times as needed
- Reliable transportation
