Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs complete physical exams and assessments of patients including urgent, emergent and non-urgent presentation.
2. Provides care to patients assigned to him/her including performing comprehensive and problem focused history and physical exams, interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic procedures, interpret and correlate subjective and objective data to formulate a differential diagnosis and establish a working diagnosis. Formulate a treatment plan within scope of practice. Exercise judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising physician or other healthcare professionals.
3. Orders and, when appropriate, performs tests and procedures to augment physical findings.
4. Interprets data and diagnostic results for appropriate course of action, including but not limited to radiology, EKG, lab, etc.
5. Completes appropriate documentation of all evaluations, care, and services rendered in the medical record in accordance with hospital, local, state and national guidelines.
6. Participates in SBA Medical Group functions.
7. Responds to telephone inquiries of patients and provides appropriate medical care.
8. Communicates with patient's primary care physician to provide necessary information to insure continuity of care/proper follow-up for patients. Information to include diagnosis and treatment provided.
9. Develop and maintain professional rapport with employees, medical staff members including allied health professionals, patients, families, and visitors.
10. Demonstrates Electronic Medical Record, Care Provider Order Entry (CPOE) and computer proficiency.
11. Participates in peer review activities as requested.
12. Follows rules and regulations as set forth by contracted health care plans.
13. Performs all duties and services in full compliance with CMS and appropriate accrediting agencies.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Skilled in patient assessment and management of urgent care/emergent care, assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
Skilled in oral and written communication.
Advance knowledge of and experience utilizing a personal computer.
Knowledge of electronic medical records documentation desired.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires hearing adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.
Must be able to communicate clearly to patients over the phone and in person.
Visual acuity to adequately perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
Requires occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 35 pounds unassisted.
Requires frequent bending reaching, and repetitive hand movements (specifically keyboarding and writing), standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
Some exposure to communicable disease, sharps, and hazardous materials is anticipated.
Job requires potential exposure to body fluids.
Requires the ability to distinguish letters and symbols.
Eye-hand coordination and finger and manual dexterity are required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
General busy clinical environment, including office and outpatient clinic areas.
