Job Description
SUMMARY
Responsible for assembling, installing, and repairing sheet metal on a larger assembly component. Sheet Metal Mechanics interprets spec sheets to determine proper work technique. They use various hand tools and power tools. Have attention to detail while performing work and visually inspecting finished stages of assembly. Promotes and utilizes standard safety practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned as required or needed
SHEET METAL MECHANIC:
- Install collars on all Hi-Loks.
- Setup and use of different countersinks used in the drilling process.
- Remove and replace rivets, Hi-locks and collars, with assistance.
- Examine finished surfaces of workpieces to verify conformance to specifications; then retouch any defective areas.
- Clean and maintain tools and equipment, using solvents, brushes, and rags.
- Clean surfaces of workpieces in preparation for assembly sealing, using cleaning fluids, solvents, brushes, scrapers, sandpaper, or cloth.
- Wipe coated workpieces to remove excess coating material or to facilitate setting of finish coats on workpieces.
- Fill out job packets, as well as daily logs.
- Assist with material handling.
- Rework blemishes in workpieces, such as nicks or skin qualities per BAC Specifications.
- Assembly using torque wrenches or automatic torque drills.
