FT Instructor - Construction Technology

Job Description

The full-time Construction Technology faculty member is responsible for teaching a minimum of 30 credit hours per year in Construction Technology and related disciplines at the El Dorado Correctional Facility (EDCF). Instructional responsibilities include classroom and laboratory teaching, curriculum delivery, assessment of student learning outcomes, and the integration of current industry standards and practices with pedagogy.

The position requires active engagement with local business and industry partners to ensure program relevance, support workforce development initiatives, and promote student employment opportunities. The faculty member will participate in program advisory committees and collaborate with employers to identify workforce needs and emerging trends within the construction industry.

The faculty member will serve on college committees and engage in local, state, regional, and national professional organizations as appropriate. Additional responsibilities may include participation in program review, accreditation, assessment, and continuous improvement efforts in alignment with institutional goals and the mission of the community college.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction technology principles, practices, tools, materials, and safety standards relevant to modern construction trades.
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain appropriate industry credentials and certifications, including National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certifications, as may be needed by the program or college.
  • Ability and commitment to build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with industry partners, advisory boards, employers, and workforce agencies to support student learning, curriculum relevance, and job placement.
  • Commitment to student-centered teaching, including the ability to effectively instruct a diverse student population with varying academic, cultural, and professional backgrounds.
  • Willingness to work with requirements set forth by the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) and the El Dorado Correctional Facility (EDCF)
  • Basic computer and technology skills, including the ability to use learning management systems (CANVAS), email, word processing, spreadsheets, and instructional technologies.
  • Willingness to participate in departmental, divisional, and college-wide committees, meetings, professional development activities, and accreditation or assessment processes.
  • Understanding of and willingness to fulfill faculty responsibilities, including curriculum development, assessment of student learning outcomes, maintaining required records, and adherence to college policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing, with students, colleagues, administrators, and external partners.
  • Participation in a minimum of 20 hours of professional development activities annually
