Job Description

Under the clinical supervision of the Mirror Federal Programs Director, the Residential Reentry Center (RRC) Correction Technicians at the Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons contracted residential reentry programs are responsible for supporting the clinical programs and services offered by Mirror to its contracting authorities. The Mirror RRC Correction Technicians shall operate in an ethical, professional manner, interact with others in such a fashion as to create and maintain respect for the agency and the United States Government, Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons. He/she shall be familiar with the statement of work and the contractual provisions set forth in the agreement with BOP. They shall also act in accordance with the policies determined by the Board of Directors and shall abide by all applicable federal, state and local regulations. In short, the duties of this position include supervision of federal offenders, charting of offender behavior in the a gency’s electronic hea lth record, clerical tasks as related to the work environment, security, collection and the related paperwork requirements of offender urinalysis testing and assisting the clinical staff whenever needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supervise offenders during the a ssigned hours per the a gency’s a ccounta bility sta nda rds.
2. Monitor groups as required.
3. Provide educational presentations and facilitate recreation therapy as directed by your supervisor.
4. Familiarize yourself on a daily basis with the status of each individual offender either through an oral conference with the
da y sta ff, or by checking the offender’s da ily cha rt. Remember to check the sta ff communica tion notebook.
5. Complete orientation related paperwork on each offender as directed by your supervisor.
6. When directed by your supervisor, provide transportation for offenders to community -based providers. This might
include a ppointments to court hea rings, doctors’ offices, menta l hea lth providers, etc...
7. Maintain a record of all offender movements within the given facility.
8. Maintain offender and program confidentiality as required by federal law.
9. Supervise and observe offenders during the urine specimen collection process.
10. Notify the appropriate supervisor if an offender fails to provide a urine sample when required.
11. Ensure the safety of the offenders served by securing the Mirror Residential Reentry Center residential building while
you are on duty.
12. Monitor offenders as necessary when on Mirror property, at Mirror related activities in the community or while at
scheduled appointments with community providers.
13. While on duty, ma intain a true a nd a ccurate record of offender’s movement a nd beha vior a nd of other program rela ted
activities on the forms provided by Mirror or within the a gency’s electronic hea lth record .
14. Must attend and participate in all staff meetings as directed by the Mirror Federal Programs Director.
15. Assure that copies of all official program communications and offender related materials are filed appropriately and in
the designated offender files.
16. Duplicate records and papers as required.
17. Handle crisis situations as they might arise. Intervene appropriately to diffuse or de -escalate potentially harmful
situations.
18. Be available for case staffing conferences when requested by your supervisor.
19. Record and deposit offender subsistence, which is collected via the policy and procedures, set forth by the agency. Assist
in the collection of subsistence as it directly impacts the relationship between the offender and BOP.
20. Assist Mirror's clinical and administrative staff with BOP compliance and audit conditions.
21. Some limited food preparation on weekends and mornings (or on an as needed basis). Supervise resident clean up of
kitchen facilities.
22. Perform other job-related functions as directed by your immediate supervisor.
