The Adult Education Coordinator provides educational services for adults to enhance integration. This position is primarily responsible for adapting, implementing, and monitoring adult education programs such as the English Language Training (ELT) program, the vocational English Language Training, and vocational career paths for adults with a focus on refugee and immigrant clients. Collaborating with colleagues, they ensure that adult education programs meet donors' requirements, qualitative and quantitative data are collected, and program volunteers are trained. This position will engage actively with clients and the IRC in Kansas Resettlement team. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate the delivery of adult education classes, including coordination of class schedules, enrollment and registration, pre- and post-testing, volunteer training and supervision, and instructional quality.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework to evaluate program success and create replicable models for working with adults;
  • Ensure compliance with all program standards and grant requirements in accordance with various programming requirements.
  • Develop lesson plans and maintain curriculum.
  • Follow established policies and procedures in gathering and recording classroom attendance, clients’ completion, and other data required by a grant funder.
  • Administer English language assessments to measure and track student progress and gains.
  • Maintain open, professional, and effective communication with peers, students, and partners.
  • Provide instruction of classes in-person and online as needed.
  • Train and coordinate volunteers and ensure smooth organization of classroom instructions and support.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with colleagues on the status of the programs, clients, and outcomes, and provide timely reports on any management and contract compliance issues.
  • Proactively engage with community organizations in resource development and community partnerships through grant writing, external stakeholder meetings and opportunities to improve practice.
  • Provide quality reports per funder’s guidelines in a timely manner.
  • Develop additional support and services for older refugee and immigrant clients to become citizens.
  • Participate in the development of grant proposals in support of the work of the IRC Kansas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

 

Working Environment:

  • A combination of standard office environment, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
