What You’ll Do:
- Receive, inspect, and process donated and purchased materials
- Assist with unloading trucks, cleaning, and minor repairs of inventory items
- Price items, label inventory, and maintain a clean, safe workspace
- Provide excellent customer service to donors and shoppers alike
- Supervise volunteers and help ensure a positive, productive experience for all
What We’re Looking For:
- A team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to safely lift, lower, push, or pull up to 75 pounds with assistance (team lift)
- Ability to stand, bend, squat, and perform repetitive motions as needed
- Flexibility to work regular Saturdays as needed
- Reliable transportation for occasional travel to Habitat events

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB
Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a home improvement store that sells new and used building materials to the public at a discounted price. The ReStore generates revenue through the sale of donated, purchased, and reclaimed materials in support of Wichita Habitat for Humanity’s mission to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing to low-income families.
This position is heavily focused on providing excellent customer service. Significant interaction with material donors and customers requires this role to professionally and positively represent both the ReStore and Habitat for Humanity within the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following:
Material Receiving and Processing
- Understand and communicate ReStore donation policies regarding accepted materials.
- Greet material donors at the receiving door, assess their intended donation, and complete applicable paperwork/receipt for items accepted.
- Receive and process donated and purchased inventory.
- Assist with unloading the donation truck.
- Test, clean, and perform minor repairs on donated items.
- Maintain radio contact with other employees at all times.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and functional work space.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of Donation Alley.
- Research and assign appropriate prices to donated goods.
- Understand and use the POS system to make labels, create SKUs, and check out customers.
- Fill in on the donation truck as a driver’s assistant when needed.
- Assist with end-of-day tasks and closing the ReStore when assigned.
- Answer price checks.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following:
- Supervise and support volunteers to ensure a productive and meaningful experience.
- Support the sales floor as needed by providing high-quality customer service.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
The Warehouse Associate reports directly to the Warehouse Lead and then to ReStore Management.
