Job Description
Materials and Planning Manager
Salary Range: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
SUMMARY:
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of materials management, production planning support, and shipping/receiving operations to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders. This role ensures effective input into the MRP system, maintains inventory accuracy, and coordinates critical logistics functions. Promotes and utilizes standard safety practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Ensure inputs of new/follow-on Customer orders, change orders and forecasts into MRP system.
- Ensure planning creates and releases production job orders in support of Customer Forecast/Orders
- Monitor and control raw material, WIP and finished goods levels, using MRP/ERP systems
- Work with planning to ensure best manufacturing practices are being utilized
- Categorizing inventory by value (A=high, B=medium, C=low) to prioritize management of goods
- Collaborate with Procurement (materials), manufacturing and engineering (changes)
- Make sure that packing slips/invoices are produced to ship goods to customers in time to meet their order delivery dates
- Oversee the receiving area to ensure materials are received accurately and in a timely manner. Coordinate any shipping discrepancies with purchasing, truck lines, production control, etc.
- Oversee the shipping area to ensure that materials/parts are shipped to customers, properly packaged with correct quantities, etc. Coordinate critical shipments to make sure the item(s) get shipped on time
- Manage cycle counts on a weekly basis and adjust inventory as needed to avoid stockouts and overstock on finished goods
- Maintain inventory levels – with focus on minimizing waste, unneeded costs and accuracy
- Ensure proper labeling, storage and organization of finished goods
- Help develop and implement strategies and procedures that will support efficient inventory management
- Prepare inventory items companywide for the annual audit and be the point of contact
- May move or transport materials from one department to another, manually or using material handling equipment
- Ensure that accurate information is being shared with Production Control to communicate to the customer in regard to shipments and delivery schedules or other unforeseen issues
- Assists with credit memorandums to indicate returned or incorrectly billed merchandise
- Monitor daily workflow throughout entire shift to monitor goals and troubleshoot with upper management, as necessary
- Enforces company policies
- Provide back-up coverage for positions in the department
- Enforce safety policies and practices to minimize risk and avoid workplace accidents.
- Ensures staff has the supplies and resources needed
- Oversees with employee training and strategically plans training for back up coverages, including maintain up to date SOPs.
- Assure the maintaining of a clean, orderly work environment
- Oversees with staff performance management, provide feedback and conduct performance reviews to foster professional growth.
- Report damaged/down equipment and schedule repairs in a timely fashion

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's to degree in relevant field (Industrial engineer, Supply chain, Business) or 5 years’ experience in materials, inventory and planning
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in management
