Job Description
Job Purpose
The Digital Pre-Press Operator is responsible for executing advanced page builds using associated software, tasks necessary to perform color corrections, image manipulations and variable data programming. Work with the Graphics Arts department supplied artwork to ensure that content, color quality, layout, file management and other specified standards are followed. Create digital press-ready artwork for separations. Perform prepress/layout according to artwork, structures and sample drawings. Responsible for conforming to company standards for quality and job parameters.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Adheres to company policies and presents a professional, positive attitude at all times.
- Update existing labels with new content as per changes in product formulation, place order with printer and make sure correct labels are received.
- Create and manage art files/projects from concept to completion. Prepare supplied art files (from Graphics Arts) for digital press.
- Maintain company brand standards with all marketing material/packaging designs.
- Perform image retouching and color correction.
- Through HP Production Pro for Indigo Labels and Packaging:
- Pre-flighting, trapping, making proofs and generating reports.
- Create workflows.
- Detect errors in workflow before going to press.
- Check separations.
- Compare files to one another.
- Lay supplied artwork file over final production file.
- Verify bar codes and QR codes.
- Coordinate with integrated flexo-printing.
- Develop color strategies using Esko Color Pilot.
- Resolve art issues with Graphics Arts Department.
- Determines size arrangement of images to assure proper fit of finished product.
- Produce error free final form digital production files and assess the readiness of files created by Graphics Arts Department artists. Troubleshoot and identify mistakes when challenges arise and help remove roadblocks for the team.
- Ensure proper format, appearance and layout of text and images before publication.
- Maintain electronic files and archives of all computer created graphics.
- Produce PDFs for upload.
- Participate in team meetings to identify productivity improvements.
- Meet multiple deadlines and communicate with submitting and production departments. Work closely with a team of designers, technicians, and press operators.
- Understanding and performing rasterization of files for digital output.
- Ensure adherence to all quality control processes and procedures and actively supports the company's internal audit program."
