Full job descriptionThe IT Technician Apprentice will use technical skills and experience to support client IT needs. The position requires some technical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, along with good communication abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Telephone and email support for client companies (Level 1 support). Effectively communicate with clients to gain understanding of technical issues and accurately relay information to support staff members.
- Troubleshoot/resolve hardware and software performance and general PC, network and printer problems.
- May install, upgrade and support computer hardware and software.
- Perform voice/email system setup
- Perform set-up for new users
- Assist with IT projects as directed
- Collaborate with customers and vendors as directed
- Support all company policies and procedures
- Communicate effectively with all contacts
- Technical skills and some knowledge/experience with IT protocols, software and hardware operations.
- Troubleshooting diagnostic skills and ability to perform entry-level root cause analysis of technical issues
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical users
- Self-starter who takes initiative to resolve problems
- Able to work with a team.
- Able to perform on-call work when necessary.
- Currently attended or recently attended school at the college level with an IT curriculum.
Must be able to work approximately 20 hours per week.
The following skills are a plus:
- Microsoft Operating Systems (Server and Desktop)
- VPN and remote access methodologies
- Server and desktop hardware installation, configuration and support skills
- SonicWall firewall and network security experience
- PowerShell Scripting
