Job Description

Overview / Job Summary:

This role includes providing instruction in both classroom and workshop settings, demonstrating techniques in sheet metal operations, and supporting projects and assessments. The contractor will assist in creating a dynamic learning environment that encourages student engagement and skill development.

 

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver engaging face-to-face and online instruction across all work process areas of the plumbing apprenticeship curriculum.
  • Conduct hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises for pipe fitting, installation, troubleshooting, and repair procedures.
  • Assess apprentice competency through written exams, performance evaluations, and practical demonstrations.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and competency achievement.
  • Collaborate with employers and on-the-job mentors to ensure alignment between classroom instruction and workplace learning.
  • Integrate current plumbing codes (IPC, UPC), OSHA safety regulations, Kansas state requirements, and emerging technologies into instruction.
  • Provide individualized instruction and support for apprentices with varying skill levels and learning needs.
  • Participate in program meetings, curriculum reviews, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure all instruction meets U.S. Department of Labor and Kansas Department of Commerce apprenticeship standards.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and professional learning environment that fosters skill development and career advancement.
Requirements

Required:

  • Current Kansas Plumbing License (Journeyman-level or Master) in good standing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in residential, commercial, and/or industrial plumbing installations and service.
  • Strong knowledge of International Plumbing Code (IPC), Kansas plumbing codes, and OSHA safety standards.

 

Preferred:

  • Previous experience training, teaching, or mentoring apprentices or entry-level plumbers.
