POSITION TITLE: Medical Technologist I (MT)

DEPARTMENT: Laboratory

POSITION RELATIONSHIPS

Responsible to: Laboratory Manager

Responsible for: Helping coordinate activities of Lab Assistants

Interrelationships: Works cooperatively with all hospital departments, medical staff, patients, and visitors.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory tests with accuracy, precision, and timeliness to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patient conditions. This role ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal quality standards while maintaining a high level of professionalism, technical knowledge, and commitment to patient care.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field required.

Experience:

2 years of previous hospital experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist .

Preferred Skills:

 Strong knowledge of laboratory protocols, equipment, and regulatory compliance.

 Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

 Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Certifications/Registrations:

MT or equivalent Continuing education required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

Level 3 Medium Work 3 – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and or up to 10 – 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Analyze biological samples. Perform chemical microbiological, hematological, and immunologic tests.  Operate and maintain lab equipment.  Verify and interpret test results and document findings.
