Job Description
We are a grain crop farm operation with planting starting in late March and continuing through June depending upon the crop planted. Harvesting wheat in the summer, and milo, corn and soybeans in the fall, along with drilling wheat for the following year. Maintenance of the crops and land with tilling, fertilizing, and irrigation from April through November. We need employees to assist with all aspects of growing corn, wheat, sorghum and soybeans. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, irrigation equipment, operate other farm equipment, engage in planting, weeding, spraying and/or harvesting activities, fertilize, dust, and spray crops, spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers, install, maintain and repair pivot irrigation systems, load and unload crops or materials, manually or using conveyors, handtrucks, forklifts, or transfer augers, manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery, mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into machinery, observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions, attach equipment extensions or accessories, load crops and unload crops, operate equipment to harvest crops, complete maintenance and repairs on irrigation equipment, drive pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools, inspect, adjust, and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment. General duties pertaining to the farm such as sweeping and picking up in the shed. helping work on equipment, and mowing, and cleaning of equipment and vehicles. Employer may, at its sole discretion, provide pay increases based on longevity or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer. Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid at their previous season’s rate if that rate exceeds the current published rate.
Housing is provided. Reimbursement for transportation and subsistence is also offered. Transportation will be provided at no cost to workers, from employer-provided housing and, if applicable, centralized pick-up points to the places of employment at the beginning of each workday and back at the end of each work day.
