Job Description
We run a livestock operation of approximately 500 head. We farm approximately 8500 acres of farm ground. We have a seed and feed business also. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, planters, seed drills, irrigation equipment, operate other farm equipment, engage in planting, weeding, spraying and/or harvesting activities, spray fertilizer, use forklifts, transfer augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks, attach equipment extensions or accessories, load crops and unload crops, operate equipment to harvest crops, drive farm trucks to haul crops, and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping, repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment, repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures. Employees will need to monitor cattle while on pastures from April until November. Employees will need to check on cattle, assist with working cattle, vaccinating cattle, sorting and loading cattle. Replacement heifers will need to be fed April 1 until November 1 at which point they will be turned out to corn stalk and cover corp and no feeding will be needed. Employer may, at its sole discretion, provide pay increases based on longevity or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer. Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid at their previous season’s rate if that rate exceeds the current published rate.
Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion. Family housing not available. Housing will be clean and meet applicable Fed, State and local housing standards. Workers must maintain neat and clean housing. Repair cost of damage, other than normal wear and tear will be deducted from the earnings. Housing/utilities are provided at no cost to workers who are unable to return to their place of residence the same day. If both male and female workers are hired: separate toilet, bathing and sleeping rooms will be provided. Employer is not a H-2ALC. Employees will be provided with an employer owned vehicle to drive to and from work and to town for errands. Daily transportation schedule will coincide with the work schedule outlined on this application, or as agreed upon between employer and employee based on seasonal demands and/or workload. The vehicle provided will be a 2008 GMC Sierra truck with a capacity of 5.
