Job Description
Equipment Field Mechanic Responsibilities and Qualifications:
- Diagnose and repair heavy and light construction equipment in the field, including loaders, excavators, skid steers, telehandlers, and trucks
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections to minimize downtime
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using proper diagnostic tools
- Communicate effectively with superintendents and shop personnel regarding equipment status and needs
- Complete service reports and maintain accurate documentation of work performed
- Ensure safe work practices and maintain a clean and organized service truck and work area
- Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- CDL preferred but not required
Equipment Field Mechanic Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, field technician, or similar role
- Strong mechanical knowledge, including hydraulics, electrical systems, diesel engines, and welding/fabrication skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
