PURPOSE OF POSITION: Staff position with the overall responsibility of marketing and communications to both internal and external audiences.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general supervisionto the Chief Communications Officer.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises Marketing Specialist, Digital Marketing Manager, and any Interns.
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Must possess expertise in traditional and digital marketing principals and advertising campaigns, as well as the ability to analyze and evaluate campaigns and make decisive adjustment recommendations. Expert knowledge of website content management systems, SEO, website and campaign analytics, and Adobe Creative Suite. Must have excellent oral and written skills. Experience in business and communications writing and editing. Presentation and public speaking experience. Must have sufficient competence to earn and maintain the respect and confidence of professionals within the organization and outside. Available to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends. Some overnight travel may be necessary.
JOB PROFICIENCIES: Direct and actively carry out all Marketing activities including internal and external communications and branding efforts in an effective and efficient manner. Provide guidance, recommendations, and leadership to the Communications team, as well as other Goodwill departments and retail stores. Mentoring and talent development. Strong analytical skills to evaluate marketing campaigns, determine ROI, and take decisive action and make necessary recommendations to ensure our department is a good steward of the organization’s resources. Serves as media contact. Monitor brand health and reputation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform work activities in conformance to our Goodwill Values.
- Develop and execute communication initiatives that support organizational strategic objectives, goals, and values.
- Ensure all projects meet objectives, align with brand standards, and drive organizational outcomes.
- Advise the Chief Communications Officer on and craft internal messaging, ensuring clarity and alignment with organizational strategy.
- Lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of the internal communications strategy ensuring clear, consistent, and engaging messaging that is aligned with the organization’s goals, values, and culture across all levels of the organization.
- Lead the development of and create marketing project plans, timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring that all tasks are clearly defined and aligned with organizational objectives. Actively carry out these plans through decisive action.
- Guide Goodwill departments through marketing projects to ensure smooth execution and alignment with overall organizational goals.
- Oversee marketing projects from initiation to completion, ensuring all necessary information is gathered and shared with team members, allowing sufficient time for task completion, and keeping the project on track to meet deadlines.
- Direct and produce creative and effective actions and tactics that shape the culture, enhance employee engagement, and foster an inclusive, informed workforce.
- Guide team members and department leaders through After Action Reviews of all marketing projects to determine successes and identify areas for improvement. Create analysis reports from the AARs and store these files for future reference.
- Suggest and implement improvements to streamline project management processes and enhance overall team productivity.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support, create, launch, and maintain internal and external communication strategies.
- Lead the development and execution of annual report.
- Maintain clear, organized records of project details, including timelines, approvals, feedback, and final deliverables.
- Ensure all project-related documents and files are accurate, updated, and easily accessible and maintained according to agency document storage and destruction guidelines.
- Provide art direction to the Communications team.
- Ensure all marketing projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Communicate progress, problems, concerns, and proposed solutions to the Chief Communications Officer.
- Perform duties in a safe manner and adhere to all safety guidelines.
- Adhere to all safety policies and report violations.
- Responsible for safety and well-being of all employees and clients.
- Support mission statement, organization values, and activities of other departments.
- Support the accessibility of our services and facilities free of architectural, attitudinal, environmental, financial, communication, transportation, employment and other barriers to people with disabilities and barriers to employment.
- Adhere to all ethical standards and confidentiality of records.
- Driving to organization and public locations to manage marketing operations and represent the organization.

Internal Communications:
- Create, develop, and deliver compelling internal communications materials, including newsletters, emails, content, internal social media and communications tools, and videos.
- Build and maintain an internal communications content calendar.
- Foster employee engagement through effective communication, ensuring that employees are informed, motivated, and aligned with the company’s vision, mission, and values.
- Manage the internal communications platforms (email, internal social media, etc.) and work with the IT Department to ensure they are optimized for employee engagement and accessibility.
- Monitor internal communications, analyze content and engagement from team members, and use that information to structure internal communications and employee education strategies.
- Create and regularly update guidelines for the use of internal communications tools.
- Establish and engage mechanisms for gathering employee feedback on communications, and use data and insights to continuously improve and tailor internal messaging strategies.
- Collaborate with all internal departments to support organizational changes through the creation and dissemination of clear, consistent, and transparent communication.
- Coordinate logistics and schedule town halls.
- Guide and contribute to the creative direction of internal communication collateral and messaging.
- Oversee the creation and upkeep of digital collateral templates to improve efficiency and ensure brand consistency.
- Support, guide, and contribute to the Culture Committee in their efforts to build and maintain the organization’s culture.
- Work with the Director of Training and Development to ensure employees know about our internal communications tools and how to use them.
External Communications:
- Develop and deploy creative and effective marketing campaigns for mission, retail and industrial services.
- Represent Goodwill Industries of Kansas at special events, business networking events, and community outreach events.
- Guide and contribute to the creative direction of external communication collateral and messaging.
- Guide and direct the organization’s digital marketing strategy – achieving objectives and leading to measurable outcomes.
- Create and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual digital marketing reports to track necessary KPIs.
- Cultivate and build industry, media, and organization partnership relationships.
- Serve as media contact; pitch potential stories monthly.
Note: Must have a mobile phone and maintains it in operating order within phone company's maintenance capabilities. Must be a licensed driver that is insurable. Must pass background check and drug screen. Additionally, all qualified candidates will be asked to submit a writing sample and communications/artwork portfolio.
